Akkineni Naga Chaitanya was born on November 23, 1986, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where his star father Akkineni Nagarjuna was proved as an actor in the film industry. A few years later, his parents Nagarjuna and Lakshmi divorced and as a child, Chay moved to the house of his veteran late grandfather and film producer Dr D Ramanaidu, where he has grown up for 18 years and learnt to play keyboard and bass guitar in his school. While trying to make it as an actor, Chay did an acting course in Mumbai and got trained in martial arts in Los Angeles. On 6 October 2017, Naga Chaitanya married Samantha, who is also a famous South Indian actress.

Josh

Akkineni Naga Chaitanya made his debut with Vasu Varma’s ‘Josh’ in 2009. Chay starred as Satya who doesn’t entertain corrupt politics in college premises for fulfilling its selfish reasons. Although the film was an average fare at the box office, Chay had been lauded for his amazing debut performance and received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut - South. And her love interest was played by Karthika Nair also won Santosham Film Award for Best Debut Actress.

Ye Maaya Chesave

The very next year, Chay bagged the role of a young mechanical engineering graduate named Karthik who falls in love with his tenant played by Samantha as Jessie, who is older than him. As their religions are quite different, their union is not as simple as that. The romantic entertainer changed his life, both personally and professionally. The talented actor continues to be a bankable star and has some hit films to his credit. There was an instant attraction, an electric spark, and suddenly he’s found his mojo and never looked back.

100 Love

In 2011, Chay signed to play the role of the top ranker college goer Balu whose life leads to ego clashes with his sister-in-law Mahalakshmi. The Sukumar directorial received a positive response from the audience and earned the actor a huge fan following. The film stars Tamannaah Bhatia as the leading lady. The romantic comedy-drama has the best soundtrack composed by young sensation Devi Sri Prasad. The actor had won everyone’s heart and played his part in making this film a big success. The movie is produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner Geetha Arts.

Tadakha

He then played one of the leads in Kishore Kumar Pardasani directorial ‘Tadakha’, which was the official remake of 2012 Tamil film 'Vettai'. He essayed the younger brother of two who protects his elder timid brother from a notorious gangster. People were amazed by the young brave man to portray a character with different shades, stepping out from his usual lover boy avatar. People enjoyed it a lot and we must say that he portrayed it so perfectly. The movie was bankrolled by Bellamkonda Ganesh under the banner Sri Sai Ganesh Productions.

Premam

After doing some hard-hitting roles, Naga Chaitanya was back to doing what he does best, playing a lover boy. In 2016, director Chandoo Mondeti introduced him as a school student, lover boy and a grown-up Chef Vikram Vatsalya in ‘Premam’, which was said to be the remake of well-received 2015 Malayalam film of the same name. The actor reprised Nivin Pauly's role, who played the leading role in the Malayalam film and he impressed all with his stunning performance. His chemistry with all the leading ladies played by Shruti Haasan, Madonna Sebastian and Anupama Parameswaran was also lauded.

Rarandoi Veduka Chudham

Naga Chaitanya was seen as a young happy-go-lucky guy named Shiva, who falls in love with a village belle Bhramarambha and he realises what she expects from her husband, in the 2017 romantic comedy ‘Rarandoi Veduka Chudham’. The movie was much appreciated and loved for its grand narration and performances. Playing the lead roles, Chay and Rakul Preet Singh set the temperatures soaring with their sizzling performance in this romantic drama. The movie was backed by his star father Nagarjuna Akkineni under his home banner Annapurna Studios.
