Cinematographer-turned-actor Viren Thambidorai talks about 'Vajrakavachadhara Govinda'

The actor has tried his hand at probably all dimensions of filmmaking and has tasted success at it. Having donned several roles as that of producer, director,

cinematographer

, musician, creative director for a streaming platform and even as a personal manager for Rana Daggubati, the actor credits his refined understanding of the craft to his versatility.

“Acting, I could say, was the easiest of them all because I am thorough with every technicality that surrounds it. I know how body movement, facial expressions and pitch contribute to acting. Someone gives me the dialogue, explains me the mood and I act accordingly. I am certainly enjoying it and really want to grab every opportunity that I get," he says.

It was his good friend Tony D'Souza who had spotted the actor in him for Emraan Hashmi's ‘Azhar’ because he happened to browse past a series of music videos that Viren had starred in. ’, ‘Devadas’, ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi’ and now ‘Vajrakavachadhara Govinda’ have kept the actor in him in good stead.

Viren plays an eccentric archaeologist in the Saptagiri starrer, for which he'd done a lot of homework. Talking of how he landed the role, he says, "It was Saptagiri who had recommended me for the film and director Arun Pawar was equally keen to bring me on board. The scale of the film is minimal but I really enjoyed shooting for the film."

Viren calls it a wacky entertainer that features every notable comedian in tinsel town. "So, it was challenging to be distinguishable, both with the looks and the performance. Noticing my enthusiasm for the role, Arun had given me a green signal to design a bearded look for the film. The rest is for all of you to see," he has his fingers crossed.
