The ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who is working on 'SSMB29' was earlier said to have taken on a
Dadasaheb Phalke biopic titled Made in India. The project, to be directed by
Nitin Kakkar, has been in the news for some time, with several reports suggesting that
Jr NTR or Prabhas might play the lead role. However, recent updates indicate that the film has now been delayed.
Scheduling conflicts cause setback
It is said that Jr NTR was initially the top choice to headline the project. However, the 'RRR' star has a packed calendar with his upcoming major films, including one with Prashanth Neel and Koratala Siva. Due to it, it seems it has become difficult for the makers to finalize dates. Following this, buzz online suggested that this made the team consider Prabhas as a replacement, which will mark his another project with SS Rajamouli.
However, Prabhas too appears to be unavailable for the foreseeable future. A report by Mid-Day reveals that the 'Salaar' actor will remain occupied through 2025 and 2026. He is expected to begin shooting for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' later this year and will subsequently move to 'Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2', directed by Nag Ashwin. Given these timelines, the Made in India team has had no option but to delay production until a suitable schedule opens up.
Work front
Speaking about their work front, Jr NTR was last seen in 'War 2', marking his Bollywood debut alongside Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in the lead. He is now busy with his next film, rumored to be titled 'Dragon' directed by 'KGF' and 'Salaar' fame Prashanth Neel.
On the other hand, Prabhas will be next seen in the horror-comedy action film 'The Raja Saab'. Directed by Maruthi, it will be released on January 9th, 2026.
