‘Donga’ Teaser: Karthi plays a criminal in this emotional-thriller starring Jyotika as his sister

Post the monstrous success of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Khaidi, Karthi has teamed up with Drishyam fame Jeethu Joseph for an emotional thriller. Starring former heroine Jyotika in a pivotal role, the film has been titled as Thambi in Tamil and Donga in Telugu. While Mohanlal and Suriya launched the Malayalam and Tamil teasers respectively, Akkineni Nagarjuna released the Telugu clip on his social handle.
Featuring Karthi and Jyotika as brother and sister, the teaser of Thambi introduces the 42-year-old actor as a criminal and the very next frame; Jyotika is seen waiting for his brother along with uncle Sathyaraj. Along with high-octane action sequences and emotional moments, there are some happy family moments in the teaser between the lead duo and veteran actress Sowcar Janaki. There also seems to be a mystery element in Donga which might be revealed in the trailer.
Along with Viacom18 Studios, Jyothika's brother Suraj is bankrolling the project. While Govind Vasantha is composing the tunes, acclaimed cinematographer RD Rajasekhar is handling the camera. The film is scheduled for a December release.
Despite featuring no heroine, no star attraction and no promotions whatsoever, Karthi’s recent outing Khaidi is performing exceedingly well both at the single screens and multiplexes. With impressive collections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the road-thriller is standing strong as a testimony to the power of 'word of mouth'.
