Evaru preview: Will Adivi Sesh and Regina Cassandra's thriller live up to the hype?

Debutant Venkat Ramji’s ‘Evaru’ starring Adivi Sesh and Regina Cassandra in lead roles, apart from Naveen Chandra, Murli Sharma and Nihail releases this Independence Day.

The film sees cinematography by debutant Vamsi Patchipuludu, editing by Garry BH and music by Sricharan Pakala. ‘Evaru’ sees the story of a woman named Sameera, played by Regina Cassandra, who’s heinously raped and ends up murdering her assailant. She now has to prove her innocence even as a corrupt cop Vikram Vasudev, played by Adivi Sesh, refuses to believe her story and maybe make some money off whatever she’s hiding. Naveen Chandra on the other hand also plays a cop called Ashok, while Nihal plays the role of a boy looking for his missing father, played by Murli Sharma.
The film’s trailer hints at ‘Evaru’ having more than what meets the eye. The film’s shoot was also kept under wraps, with no one even in the film circles knowing of the film’s release till the lead actors and filmmakers announced it on their social media. The trailer even trended on YouTube at #1 for a long while, raking in massive views upon its release. Upon its release, the film will face competition from Sudheer Varma’s Sharwanand, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kajal Aggarwal starrer ‘Ranarangam’.

‘Evaru’ was shot in Coonoor and Hyderabad, based on a story penned by Ramji with the basic idea theorised by producer PVP. Talking about the film’s story, the director had told Hyderabad Times, “Because he wrote Kshanam and co-wrote Goodachari, he has experience with thrillers. He might not have co-wrote this but I definitely bounced my ideas off him. To convince and surprise him was a challenge I took up. He would sometimes negate some plot points of mine but let me tell you, when I told him the climax, it blew his mind because he couldn’t guess the ending at all. So I’m happy about that.”
