Popular TV star and Bollywood actress will be testing the waters in Telugu cinema

Child actors turning into mainstream leads is nothing new in Indian cinema as we’ve already seen several super-talents like Sridevi, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ayesha Takia, Urmila Matondkar and many others. One among the new entrants to join this bandwagon is Digangana Suryavanshi, the 21-year-old actress who has already featured in two Bollywood films namely ‘FryDay’ and ‘Jalebi’. She might look cute and innocent at the first instance but behind that visage lies a ton of experience that she gained as a child artiste.

After working in 12 daily soaps, a popular reality show and two Hindi films, Digangana Suryavanshi is gearing up to test the waters in Tollywood with the upcoming ‘Hippi’. The romantic-comedy blended with high-octane action features ‘RX 100’ fame Kartikeya as the protagonist and the steamy lip-lock of the duo in the teaser has already caught the attention of many. Besides showbiz stuff, Digangana is a hot darling on social media platforms like Instagram and a true fashionista. Check out some of her jaw-dropping poses!

Jabalpur beauty and Mumbai belle

Born in the city of Jabalpur, Digangana’s family moved to Mumbai when she was three months old. Her father acted in a couple of films before he got married and she, like a curious child, found the television box colourful and fascinating. Starring in commercials and telefilms, she became a professional actor when she was only seven years old and started to hone her skills in school too. Suryavanshi credits all her success and achievements to her Nani (maternal grandmother) and terms her as a source of inspiration and motivation.

Child Actor and TV superstar

Digangana kicked-off her showbiz tenure by essaying a crucial role in the 2002 thriller-series ‘Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat’. After a couple of years, she returned to the glamour arena with supporting roles in daily soaps like ‘Shakuntala’ (2009), ‘Krishna Arjun’ and ‘Ruk Jaana Nahin’ (2011–12). However, her major breakthrough on the small screen came with the super-successful ‘Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera’ in which she played the titular role. Besides grabbing glowing praises for her flawless performance, the talented starlet acquired massive popularity and an impressive fan-following. To cash in on her craze, the makers of Bigg Boss have roped in the leggy lass for the ninth season by paying a bomb.

Bollywood and Tollywood

After an impressive stint on TV, it didn’t take much time for Digangana Suryavanshi to bag her big Bollywood break. She made her silver screen debut alongside Govinda in ‘FryDay’ and portrayed the female lead in the romantic-drama ‘Jalebi’ starring Rhea Chakraborty and Varun Mitra. Much to everyone’s surprise, both the films released on the same day and faired quite well at the ticket counters. She is also making her Tollywood debut this year with the upcoming romantic-entertainer ‘Hippi’ which is set for a worldwide release on June 7. Digangana is certain to heat up the screen with her glamourous act.

Strict vegetarian and a fitness freak

Besides being a strict vegetarian, the dazzling beauty is a fitness enthusiast. Her gym routine mostly consists of cardio and weight training. She works out regularly for 45 minutes and focuses on her abs and lower body. Speaking to a health portal, Suryavanshi says “Increase your fitness training gradually. Don’t stress your body. The whole point of fitness is to stay active even post workout and not to knock yourself dead drop tired.” She is highly active on social media platforms like Instagram and doesn’t disappoint her massive fan base when it comes to sharing drool-worthy stuff.

Story behind her interesting name

Revealing the secret behind her name, Digangana mentioned that it was derived from Sanskrit and it is used for a girl who is beautiful, versatile, talented and kind-hearted. Speaking to a leading news agency, she said “I remember practising my name when I wasn’t even a year old. My mum keeps telling me the story as to how they prompted and help me learn the name.” Let’s hope that the Mumbai belle strikes the right chord with regional viewers in her first outing itself.
