The festival of

Bhogi

is the first day of Pongal and is celebrated in the honour of Lord Indra, ‘the God of Clouds and Rains’. People hailing from the Telugu states and Tamil Nadu assemble at dawn to light a bonfire to discard old used possessions. In the rural parts of coastal Andhra, the festival is celebrated on a grand scale as farmers will have their crops ready for harvest.

Meanwhile, the four-day long

Sankranthi

festival has already kicked off in

Tollywood

with the release of two big-ticket films; Sarileru Neekevvaru and AlaVaikunthapurramuloo. Both movies are wreaking havoc at the global box-office with a unanimous positive response from the critics and general audience. Not only in the country, the action-comedy and the family-entertainer are also rewriting several records in the United States by hitting the one million dollar mark with premier shows and opening day numbers itself. While the masses are favouring towards the Mahesh Babu starrer, the family audience are stepping into Allu Arjun’s film.
