The title of
Varun Tej Konidela
and Pooja Hegde-starrer
Valmiki
has now been revised to
Gaddalakonda Ganesh
. The film’s team held a press meet on Thursday evening to announce the new title. And director Harish Shankar S also took to Twitter to share the news.
Given the sensitivity attached to the issue of the title and, their intention of not offending or hurting anyone’s sentiments, the makers have decided to change the title of Valmiki to Gaddalakonda Ganesh, the character played by Varun Tej in the movie.
The film was in the centre of a controversy after the
Boya Hakkula Porata Samithi
strongly objected to the title Valmiki and wrote to the Telangana High Court seeking a change in the title. In their petition, they claimed that the title hurts the sentiments of Boya community as the movie is named after a great saint Valmiki, who wrote the epic Ramayana.
Produced by
Ram Achanta and Gopichand Achanta
under 14 Reels Plus, Valmiki has hit the screens today.
