Geetha Govindam is made with honesty; it’s my best film till date: Parasuram

With a young star cast and promising teasers, expectations from

Geetha Govindam

are huge. The film features Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles and its promos have taken social media by a storm. And yet, as the film gears up for release, its director Parasuram is as cool as a cucumber.
“No matter how high the audience’s expectations are, I am sure the film will surpass it, because it’s honest and has been made with conviction. It’s a perfect breezy film for the rainy season,” he says, proudly.
Vijay Deverakonda plays the role of Govind in the film, while Rashmika Mandanna is Geetha. Pointing out that both characters will be relatable to the audience, Parasuram says, “Both are characters that anyone can easily connect to. Vijay plays the role
of a humble, family-oriented person who has a lot of respect for women. He’s a person with ethics and values. Rashmika, on the
other hand, plays a techie who’s not at all impressed by him. She’s a character people will love to see on-screen and will be as memorable as Kamilini was in Anand or Genelia in Bommarillu.”
Geetha Govindam charts the journey of a man trying to win over the heart of the woman he loves, says Parasuram. “Isn’t it difficult to make a woman fall in love with you in real life? In films, we make it look easy with a song or a dialogue here and there. But in my film, Govind will cross
all hurdles before Geetha is impressed. She won’t fall in love that easily,” the director shares.
The director insists that one must not confuse his film with the traditional Geetha Govindam, which is an episode in the Mahabharata that features Radha and Krishna. “The film has nothing to do with it, nor is it an adaptation of the episode,” he clarifies, before adding, “I chose the title because the kind of love the protagonists have is so beautiful and pure.”
Parasuram, who has previously helmed films like Solo and Sarocharu, says Geetha Govindam is his best work. “Compared to my previous films, I honestly believe it’s my best output yet. We have been working hard on this film since two years. There are no villains, fights or other distracting elements in the film. It’s going to be just the beautiful journey of Geetha and Govind,” he rounds off.
