Guntur Kaaram movie review highlights: Mahesh Babu charms in a first half filled with hits and misses

The film opens in signature Trivikram style, introducing all the main characters in a single crafted scene. This opening scene, featuring young Ramana, sets the stage for the narrative. As the years roll on, Vyra Venkat Swamy (Prakash Raj) and his daughter Vasundara (Ramya Krishna) are soon introduced as part of the Janadalam party.

The entrance of Ramana (Mahesh Babu), marked by Thaman's background score, creates an elevation moment, establishing his character's significance in the story. As the film progresses, intense and compelling scenes unfold between Ramana and his mother, Ramya Krishna's family, adding layers to the narrative. While Ramana excels in high-octane dance numbers and confronts his rivals, Amukta (Sreeleela) is introduced, along with some family scenes.

The mood shifts with the inclusion of light-hearted comedy scenes featuring Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, and Vennela Kishore, providing a mix of action and humour. A dance sequence showcasing Sreeleela's talent, with Mahesh joining in for the Nakkileesu Golusu song, adds a musical element to the film. The first half concludes with Ramana finally getting to see his mother, Vasundara.
