'HanuMan' fame Prasanth Varma announces 'Mahakali,' India's first female superhero film from PVCU

'HanuMan' fame director Prasanth Varma rose to popularity after the blockbuster pan-India success of the mythological superhero film. With the film, the director has built his Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe of superheroes. Now the filmmaker announced the third project from PVCU, titled 'Mahakali'.

This film will be India's first female superhero film, directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru. The announcement poster shared by the makers captures a girl gently touching her head to that of a tiger, surrounded by huts and shops, while chaos unfolds in the background. The burning Ferris wheel is also seen in the poster.

'Mahakali' captures the spiritual and mythical elements like the Sankranti 2024 release 'Hanuman' with the modern world, showcasing a bold portrayal of Goddess Kali. The film is about breaking stereotypes by featuring a dark-skinned actress in the lead role.

The film will feature a talented crew, with Smaran Sai scoring the music and Sri Nagendra Tangala as the production designer. The details about the cast and other technical crew are yet to be revealed, with high expectations for the project's growing Indian superhero genre while blending it with deeply rooted Indian mythology.

'Mahakali' is set to be released in IMAX 3D and will be available in multiple languages, catering to both Indian and international audiences.

Recently, 'HanuMan' was released in Japan.
