The veteran actor of South Indian film industry Meena turned a year older today. The gorgeous woman is celebrating her 44th birthday. Meena is one of the finest actors of the Indian film industry. Her films have garnered praises from people across the country. She made her screen debut as a child in Nenjangal in 1982. During her long career, Meena appeared in numerous commercially successful as well as critically appreciated films. After playing several roles as a child artist in Tollywood, she made an impressive leading role debut in Rajendra Prasad starrer Navayugam in 1990. Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu

Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu is an emotional family drama starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Meena and Rohini Hattangadi. It was directed by Kranthi Kumar and produced by V Doraswamiraju under VMC Productions banner. Meena won the Best Actress Nandi Award for her portrayal of an NRI girl Seeta who arrives in Indian to make peace with her grandparents as their son marries a girl against their wish.

Chanti

Chanti starred Venkatesh and Meena and directed by Ravi Raja Pinisetty. KS Rama Rao had backed the project under Creative Commercials banner. Meena was nominated for the Best Actress Filmfare Award and the movie was a big hit at the box office. The movie depicts the innocent love story between a naive simpleton Chanti and sister of feudal landlords. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that music is the soul of this film. Maestro Ilayaraja composed the tunes.

Suryavamsam

Suryavamsam was directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao and Meena played the role of a judge’s daughter Swapna who falls in love with the illiterate Bhanu Prasad. After marriage, he inspired her to become an IAS officer thereby they prove that they are capable of achieving something. It was the remake of Tamil film of the same name. Also starring Radhika, Sanghavi and Satyanarayana, the music of the movie was composed by SA Rajkumar.

Maa Annayya

Maa Annayya was the remake of Tamil film Vaanathaipola, it was directed by Ravi Raja Pinisetty. The film starred Dr Rajasekhar, Meena, Maheswari, Preetha VijayakumarDeepti Bhatnagar, Nassar, Brahmaji, Vineeth, Rama Prabha and Betha Sudhakar. The film, bankrolled by Bellamkonda Suresh and Singanamala Ramesh, received rave reviews from all corners and emerged as a super hit.

Ammayi Kosam

Ammayi Kosam starred Meena, Vineeth, Ali, Ravi Teja, Siva Reddy, Prakash Raj and Sai Kumar in primary roles. Meena played the character of Anjali who inspires the group of four friends by helping them unearth their skills. The film was directed by Muppalaneni Shiva and produced by Pokuri Baburao under the banner of Eetharam films. It was one of the much-talked-about movies of the year.
