Comedian-cum-hero Saptagiri

turns 30 on Wednesday and lucky for us his comedic chops just keep getting funnier as the years go by. Born as

Venkata Prabhu Prasad

on May 1, 1989 in Punganuru in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, his first appearance on silver screen was ‘Desamuduru’ alongside Allu Arjun. Saptagiri has risen through the ranks to become one of the Tollywood’s most loved comedians after starring in Allu Arjun starrer 'Parugu'. He has become the protagonist with ‘Saptagiri Express’, which was a hit. Over the past 10 years, the ‘Ongole Gitta’ actor, who has been in more movies than we can count continually makes us laugh at the box office.

In honor of the hilarious star's birthday, we want to celebrate his

best comedy roles ever

and get your opinion on which of them reigns supreme.

Parugu
Saptagiri had been roped in to share screen space with Allu Arjun again in the Sukumar-directed film. Indeed, Sukumar was his true inspiration to become an actor. Not many known that he forayed into the film industry as an assistant director yet things have been changed to become an actor. ‘Parugu’ has a special place in a lot of people’s hearts. In the movie, Saptagiri has played the role of P Yagya Narayana Sharma who replaces the person to be kidnapped. Although he has a brief role, we still laugh every time we see him.

Kandireega
Saptagiri became Nellore Giri in the Ram Pothineni starrer. The Santosh Srinivas directed film is an out-and-out commercial entertainer in which the comedian essayed the role of a small-time goon, who arrives to the college of the protagonist to fight against a bunch of rowdies. Even though it was his guest role, he was so funny and he nailed it with sheer perfection. His simple yet lengthy funny dialogue made him an

established comedian in Tollywood

. He wasn’t just another guy, he has really worked hard to ensure his place in the showbiz world.

Prema Katha Chitram

Directed by Maruthi, Saptagiri played the role of a suicide aspirant who joins the other three suicide aspirants in the film. He is the coolest guy among them as he had been roped in to play such a

funniest role

in the film. With ‘Prema Katha Chitram’, Saptagiri’s work echoed that the actor is here to stay not because of his appearance, but because of the quality comedy that he brings to the screen. Declared as one of the biggest hits in the year, the horror-comedy that actually brought him to the limelight.

Venkatadri Express
In the Merlapaka Gandhi-directed film, Saptagiri was a train passenger Dasthagiri who travels to Tirupathi with his original certificates. The comedian’s performance was very well received by the critics and audience alike. His performance makes you smile when ticket collector comes in and makes you chuckles when he loses his bag. It was his breakout role that proved he could do it with such an ease. More impressively, though, he does this while also implementing his own style and voice. The film stars Sundeep Kishan and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead roles.

Saptagiri’s comedy and JB’s music are the huge plus points for the film. Except them, it was nil. While the film was all about Siddhu and his affairs with his girlfriends, Saptagiri held his own ground and gave a

memorable performance

in most of the scenes. The comedian’s role was small yet significant and he did a brilliant job at it. Arguably, the film, thus, rests on Saptagiri’s able shoulders and he does not disappoint.

Happy Birthday Saptagiri, you are one funny guy!
