Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the death of Telugu renowned

on Tuesday. He was 66. Many other celebrities have also expressed their condolences to the family via social media.

Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister wrote, ''Saddened by the passing away of the outstanding Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. His poetic brilliance and versatility could be seen in several of his works. He made many efforts to popularise Telugu. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.''



Seetharama Sastry was admitted to a private hospital in Secunderabad four days ago and was in critical condition. According to the hospital's statement, the actor was admitted to the hospital on November 24 with pneumonia. He was under close observation by a team of expert doctors and was getting appropriate treatment in the ICU. However, his health condition deteriorated and breathed his last on Tuesday, November 30. He is survived by his wife, Padmavati, and two sons, Yogeswara Sharma, a

music director

in films and Raja Chembolu, a Tollywood actor.

Chembolu Seetharama Sastry famously known as Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry started his career as a lyricist with Sirivennela in 1986. He was born in 1955 and went on to become one of the most successful lyricists in Tollywood. He won eleven Nandi Awards for his work in 'Sirivennela,' 'Sruthilayalu,' 'Swarnakamalam,' 'Gaayam,' 'Subha Lagnam,' 'Sreekaram,' 'Sindhooram,' 'Prema Katha,' 'Chakram,' 'Gamyam' and 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.' He worked with stalwarts like K. V. Mahadevan, Chellapilla Satyam, K. Chakravarthy, J. V. Raghavulu, Ilaiyaraja, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Raj–Koti and several others.
