I want to be challenged as an actress and only play roles that excite me: Lavanya Tripathi

Lavanya Tripathi made her debut as Midhuna in Andala Rakshashi in 2012 and there has been no looking back for the actress ever since.

Since then, she has acted in films like Soggade Chinni Nayana, Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi and Arjun Suravaram. The actress has multiple releases lined up this year and two of those happen to be

A1 Express

and

Chaavu Kaburu Challaga

. Talking to the press about how her characters in both the films are unique, Lavanya said, “When Sundeep (Kishan) told me he was going to act in a film based on

hockey

, I just knew I had to be a part of it. I have done enough girl-next-door roles and am craving for something different.”

A1 Express, directed by debutant Dennis Jeevan Kanukolanu, is based on the Tamil film Natpe Thunai and sees her play the role of Lavanya Rao. The film will hit screens on March 5. “My character in the film is close to how I am in real life – she’s fierce and straight-forward. She was none-the-less challenging to play because despite playing sports all my life, I had never played hockey. I practiced extensively to pick up the body language of a hockey player and even watched multiple matches. It was difficult but I truly enjoyed the process,” she added.

Not just that, she has also shot for a film called Chaavu Kaburu Challaga with another debutant called Pegallapati Koushik with

Kartikeya

as her co-star. The film will hit screens on March 19. “My character in the film Mallika is a hard hitting one. She is subtle and not over-the-top, so it was a challenge to emote while showing less,” she said. The actress also has an exciting project lined up that she can’t reveal yet. “I want to be challenged as an actress and even do roles that are physically demanding if need be. I hope to even play character with negative shades someday,” she says, rounding off.
