Karthikeya 2' wins Best Film at the National Awards 2023!

The 70th National Film Awards announcement happened today, and the Telugu film 'Karthikeya 2', won the Best Feature Film (Telugu) for the year 2022. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film is the sequel to the 2014 film 'Karthikeya', and this mystery action adventure stars Nikhi Siddhartha and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles. The film's plot is a fictional story about Dr. Karthikeya, who is on a quest to find the lost anklet of Lord Krishna. The film, though, did not make a commercial success; it was a sleeper hit, and it has now won the National Award for Best Film in Telugu.


Made with a budget of Rs 15 crore, the film grossed Rs 117 crore at the box office and became the 6th highest grossing Telugu film in 2022. Director Chandoo Mondeti earlier said that he wanted to make 'Karthikeya' a franchise film and wanted to tell many stories of the lead character with different plots and synopsis. So with the National Award in place, it is highly likely that the director will soon announce 'Karthikeya 3'.

On the work front, Chandoo Mondetin is now directing the film 'Thandel' starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. Based on real-life events that happened in 2010 in Srikakulam, the story is about a fisherman who is held hostage by the Pakistani government. The film's music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, and it is scheduled for release in 2025.
