Karthi and
Rakul Preet Singh’s 'Khakee' hit the theatres today both in Telugu and as 'Theeran Adhigaram Ondru' in Tamil. Directed by H Vinoth, who has previously given hit Tamil films such as 'Sathuranga Vettai', 'Khakee' is based on real life incidents and is releasing amid high expectations of movie buffs.
The film has Karthi essaying the role of DSP Dheeraj, an honest cop who raises in ranks in no time after his training.
Rakul plays the role of Priya, his wife and the love of his life. As a DSP, Dheeraj is ruthless towards criminals and often gets transferred due to his uncompromising attitude. He is soon put on a case that involves a gang of dacoits which has been looting and killing people mercilessly.
The first half of the film establishes the brutal nature of the gang. With the killing sequences shot in black and white, the film does not hold back from showing gore. It also takes its time to explore Dheeraj and Priya's adorable chemistry, but pulls back just when it begins to become a little distracting.
So far, 'Khakee' is an engaging ride. It remains to be seen if it'll keep up the pace in the second half.
