On May 9, 2018,
‘Mahanati’
, a film based on the life of
late legendary erstwhile actress Savitri
, debuted in theatres across the globe.
In the film, directed by Nag Ashwin,
Keerthy Suresh starred as Savitri, one of the most respected actresses in the Indian cinema, who goes through various tragic incidents in her personal life after her marriage and she becomes an alcoholic when she was unable to cope up with depression. The biopic received rave reviews from the audience as well as critics alike and was a magnificent hit at the box office.
Swapna Dutt Chalasani
, daughter of C Ashwini Dutt is one of the producers of the movie.
On a social side, Swapna Dutt gifted a bus to the school located in
Vaddivaripalem
, Guntur district, where Savitri was born. In fact, the school was established by the legendary actress in 1962 and it was her dream to provide quality education to the children who live in and around the village.
To reveal the same, Swapnadutt took to her Twitter and penned a note along with a couple of images in which she was seen showing thumbs up along with the students, students with the bus and a gigantic tree planted by Savitri.
