Sashi Kiran Tikka’s father Suryanarayana Tikka breathed his last on Monday in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. Confirming the news on social media, the director who is occupied with his upcoming film ‘
Major
’ shared an obituary poster. Sharing the same,
Adivi Sesh posted that the death of his director’s father was very sudden. Several friends and loved ones have been offering their condolences to the bereaved family.
Sashi Kiran proved his mettle as a versatile director with the 2018 spy thriller ‘
Goodachari
’. Helmed on a shoe-string budget, the film packed a punch with the audience owing to its riveting narration, technical brilliance and the power-packed performances of the star cast. During his early days in the showbiz arena, he worked as an assistant director to Sekhar Kammula for ‘Leader’.
Slated for a worldwide release on July 2, Sashi’s upcoming directorial ‘Major’ is based on the life of
Sandeep Unnikrishnan
, the NSG commando who rescued hostages and lost his life in the valorous mission during the tragic 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Bankrolled by
Mahesh Babu under his own banner GMB Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Productions, the film is helmed as a Hindi - Telugu bilingual and the shooting is on the verge of completion. The teaser will be out on March 28.
Speaking about the hardships in the film industry, Sashi said to TOI “Of course, hardships are a part-and-parcel of success in any industry for that matter. I had a seven-year gap between ‘Leader’ and ‘Goodachari’. During that time, I wrote a couple of scripts and pitched them to several producers and heroes. Some of them rejected, some liked and then called off after the pre-production phase. Naturally, you tend to feel low and the morale goes down. But, as I said earlier, it is pretty common in the film industry. Right from Sekhar sir to Rajamouli and Koratala Siva, almost every director undergoes that phase during the start.”
