Sreeleela starrer 'Mass Jathara' is an upcoming mass entertainer helmed by debutant director Bhanu Bhogavarapu. Ahead of the film's release this week, the director spoke about how his first film as a director.
From rom-com dreams to mass action reality
According to a report by CineExpress, the director shared that he always thought of making his directorial debut with a romantic comedy film. He went on to mention how everyone kept asking him for a massy movie, which led to the mass entertainer, 'Mass Jathara'. He shared that the film includes humour and also has a lot of peak mass moments.
Bhanu Bogavarapu's approach to the film for Ravi Teja
Speaking about the upcoming film, Bhanu Bhogavarapu shared that he wanted to add a unique touch to this popular massy genre and made sure Ravi Teja's character as a railway police officer has a fresh angle for the audience. He also shared planning the film, keeping in mind Ravi Teja's massy image, "I'm a huge fan of Ravi Teja garu and know how iconic his cop roles have been. So, I was very careful while scripting this film. I wanted it to give audiences the energy and entertainment they expect from a Ravi Teja movie, but with a refreshing touch," he explained.
Ravi Teja's encouragement and producer's support
The director also credited Ravi Teja for motivating him throughout the process. "The title 'Mass Jathara' actually came from Ravi gaaru himself," Bhanu revealed. "He encouraged me to focus on making a great film instead of worrying about box office numbers. His support gave me the confidence I needed as a debutant."
He also praised producer S Naga Vamsi for backing the project wholeheartedly. He shared how the filmmaker trusted a debutant director, building a massive railway station set and even executing the film in a grand way.
'Mass Jathara' is set to release with paid premieres on October 31 and will be later released on November 1.
