‘Mass Jathara’ to 'The Pet Detective': South movies to stream on OTT this weekend

This week’s South Indian OTT lineup is absolutely stacked with variety. Whether you are in the mood for high-octane action, a mind-bending crime thriller, a cosy romantic drama, or a laugh-out-loud comedy, there's something for everyone. Here is everything you need to know about the hottest movies hitting your screens.

2/5

'Mass Jathara'

'Mass Jathara', is a high-energy treat for fans of mass cinema, featuring the charismatic Ravi Teja as Laxman Bheri, a sincere and tough Railway Force officer. The story kicks into high gear when Laxman is transferred to a volatile region dominated by a dangerous ganja smuggling syndicate. What starts as a duty to uphold the law quickly transforms into a personal war when he intercepts a major drug consignment, igniting a fierce gang war. He is joined by the lovely Sreeleela, who plays Tulasi, grounding the action with a touch of romance. The movie promises a classic commercial entertainer vibe, packed with stylised action sequences, punchy dialogues, and a powerful performance by Naveen Chandra as the antagonist. The film begins streaming on Netflix starting November 28.

3/5

'Aaryan'

If you love a thriller that messes with your mind, this Vishnu Vishal starrer is going to be right up your alley. The plot centres on a terrifyingly clever premise where a failed writer, played by the brilliant Selvaraghavan, confesses to crimes on live television. But, he reveals the names of his victims an hour before he kills them, turning the investigation into a frantic race against the clock. Vishnu Vishal stars as DCP Nambi, a dedicated cop who must decode the killer's "story" before more lives are lost. Featuring a strong supporting cast including Shraddha Srinath, the film blends the classic whodunit format with a psychological cat-and-mouse game. The film begins streaming on Netflix starting November 28.

4/5

'Sasivadane'

Prepare for an emotional roller coaster with this heartfelt romantic drama set against the breathtaking backdrops of the Godavari region. The film stars Rakshit Atluri as Raghava and Komalee Prasad as Sasi, two lovers whose relationship starts with pure innocence and charm. However, their love story isn't just about romance; it evolves into a "war of love" when they face severe opposition from family, specifically a brother-in-law who harbours his own feelings for Sasi. Catch the film streaming on SunNXT starting November 28.

5/5

'The Pet Detective'

For those looking to lighten the mood, this Malayalam comedy offers a hilarious and quirky escape. Sharaf U Dheen stars as Tony Jose Alula, a man who runs a detective agency but decides to become a "pet detective" to impress his girlfriend's father. What begins as a simple mission to find a missing dog spirals into absolute chaos when Tony accidentally uncovers an international mafia network. Anupama Parameswaran plays his love interest, Kaikeyi, while the talented Vinayakan and Vinay Forrt add to the comedic madness. The film is a fun, lighthearted caper reminiscent of classic slapstick comedies, where the stakes are high but the situations are absurdly funny. The film begins streaming on Zee5 starting November 28.
