'Operation Valentine' pre-release event: Megastar Chiranjeevi says his nephew Varun Tej is not following him, 'I'm happy that he is trying different genres'
Varun Tej and Manushi Chhillar starrer 'Operation Valentine' had its pre-release event on February 25 in Hyderabad ahead of its release on March 1. Padma Vibhushan Megastar Chiranjeevi was the chief guest of the event. While addressing the crowd, the megastar mentioned that the team had made great efforts in this aerial action film and appreciated Varun Tej and director Shakti Pratap for their courage.
Chiranjeevi emphasized that he is happy that Varun Tej isn’t following him. ‘Varun is trying different genres, and he has created his own opportunities. He showed plenty of variations in his films,’ he said.
At the same event, he drew a parallel between 'Operation Valentine' and 'Top Gun Maverick'. He called the Varun Tej starrer the first Telugu film in the aerial action genre. Initially confused by the title, the megastar asked Varun if they had commercialized the movie. However, later he understood that 'Operation Valentine' is about the date of the Pulwama attack that occurred on February 14.
He further added that Director Shakti Pratap has no intention to earn money and that his short film based on an aerial surgical strike surprised even Air Force officers. ‘I feel Shakti Pratap Singh will inspire Tollywood directors,’ the actor concluded.
The film is about the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred. Chiranjeevi shared that 'Operation Valentine' is about the retaliation done by the Indian Air Force as a tribute to those soldiers.
