Embracing fatherhood
While Nikhil once had different plans for rejuvenating himself, these days, while he’s not filming, he waits to return to his son. “I am making an effort to spend every day with him because kids grow up so quickly. I’m trying my best to share some of the responsibilities that Pallavi has. You want to give up bad habits and become healthy for your child when you become a parent. I used to go out partying at least once a week, and I’ve even stopped doing that now,” the actor shares. Revealing his son’s name for the first time, Nikhil said, “We are calling him Dheera Siddhartha.”

“If somebody would have told me 15 years ago that my life would turn out to be this good... I would have stressed less and been happier,” laughs Nikhil.

Shooting for a massive period saga
“This is one of the most exciting phases of my life. The scripts for the movies I’m filming, Swayambhu and The India House, are the best I’ve heard in a while. People have been talking about my long hair and beard since my amazing transformation for Swayambhu. I haven’t released my complete look just yet since I want my fans to be anticipating the upcoming teaser. Swayambu is a period drama that narrates a fictional story from a millennium ago and I had to train in sword fighting, horse riding, and archery in Vietnam. I’ve never worked on an action drama, so I’m thrilled to be filming on the massive sets that have been erected,” shared the 18 Pages actor, comparing the film to Game of Thrones and Vikings.

In The India House, Nikhil is set to star alongside Anupam Kher. Nikhil plans to take the Karthikeya franchise further as well. “The one person I have always looked up to in the film industry is Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview, he had said, ‘You’re not a star based on how well you act but how well you choose your scripts.’ That changed the way I looked at my career,” shared the Spy actor.

When he’s not filming, Nikhil enjoys reading books from his huge collection. “I also meet up with my friends Chandoo Mondeti, Sudheer Varma, and my producer Bhuvan,” he concluded.
