Acclaimed Telugu director
Sekhar Kammula has turned 48 on Tuesday. Upon completion of MFA from the Howard University, he made his directorial debut with the independent film ‘Dollar Dreams’ in 1999. Besides the critical success and a screening at the International Film Festival of India, the English film gave Sekhar the National Award for Best Debut Film of a Director. After delivering superhit projects like Anand, Godavari, Happy Days and Leader, the versatile filmmaker helmed the biggest blockbuster of his career with ‘
Fidaa
’ in 2017.
At present, Sekhar Kammula is busy with his upcoming film ‘
Love Story
’. Starring
Naga Chaitanya and
Sai Pallavi in lead roles, the shooting of the romantic-drama is proceeding at a rapid pace in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Sekhar’s birthday was celebrated on the sets of the film and photos from the cake-cutting session are going viral on social media.
Set for a release in April, a promo on Chaitanya’s character in the film was released on his birthday. Though the short clip didn’t give away much, it had a few hallmarks of a typical Sekhar Kammula hero – a relatable man-next-door in a middle-class setting.
