Naga Vamsi responds to criticism: 'No disrespect towards Boney Ji, it was a healthy discussion'

Telugu producer Naga Vamsi has found himself in controversy after the comments he made during a roundtable discussion about Bollywood versus South cinema. During the conversation, which included prominent figures like Boney Kapoor, Vamsi claimed that Bollywood was primarily focused on making films for areas like Bandra and Juhu, suggesting that South Indian cinema has changed the way Bollywood views filmmaking.

His comments led to a discussion online, with many accusing him of disrespecting Boney Kapoor, a senior figure in the industry. In response to the criticism, Naga Vamsi took to social media to clarify his stance, asserting that there was no disrespect intended towards Kapoor. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), that their conversation was healthy and friendly, stating that they shared a laugh and hugged after the interview.

His message reads, "You don’t need to teach us how to respect elders, we respect boney ji more than u guys do and there was no disrespect towards boney ji in that conversation it was a healthy discussion, me and boney ji had a nice laugh and hugged each other after the interview… So please dont come to your conclusions with just what you saw."

For the unversed, during the discussion, Vamsi pointed out how South Indian films like 'Baahubali' and 'RRR' have influenced Bollywood. Boney Kapoor disagreed, arguing that Hindi cinema has its own rich history and should not be overshadowed by recent successes from the South. He expressed that while he acknowledges the impact of films like 'Baahubali', it does not mean that Telugu cinema has taught Bollywood everything about filmmaking.

This led to further tension as Kapoor defended his position by stating that Hindi cinema has always produced great films and that he is well aware of the contributions of various regional cinemas.
