Nandamuri Balakrishna's 'Daaku Maharaaj' pre-release event cancelled following Tirupati Temple tragedy

Veteran Telugu Nandamuri Balakrishna is all set for his comeback in the highly anticipated film 'Daaku Maharaaj'. The pre-release event of the film was scheduled for January 9, 2025, in Ananthapuram, Andhra Pradesh, however, it is now cancelled after the tragic incident that occurred at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati.

In an official statement released on social media, the makers expressed their sorrow over the unfortunate events at the temple, a place of devotion for millions. On X (formerly Twitter), they wrote, "In light of the recent events in Tirupati, our team is deeply affected by the tragic incident that has occurred. . It is heart-wrenching to see such an incident occur at the Lord Venkateswara temple - a place of devotion, hope for millions and a cherished part of our families' traditions. Given the circumstances we feel it is not appropriate to proceed with #DaakuMaharaaj Pre Release Event as planned. With a heavy heart and utmost respect for the devotion and sentiments of the people, we have decided to call off today’s event. We hope for your understanding and support during this difficult time!! — Team #DaakuMaharaaj"

'Daaku Maharaaj' is set to release on January 12, 2025, coinciding with the Sankranti festival, a prime time for major film releases in Telugu cinema.

The film features Balakrishna in a powerful role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Bobby Simha, Shraddha Srinath, Pragya Jaiswal, Urvashi Rautela, and Chandini Chowdary. The music for the film is composed by Thaman.

The trailer released earlier received a positive response and the film has high expectations for its performance at the box office to mark Balakrishna's comeback.
