Despite nominated for eviction during multiple instances, the ’90 ML’ actress saved the day by receiving a large chunk of votes and also garnered solid following on social media with trending phrases like "Oviya Army". Oviya’s decent behaviour and positive attitude on the show also attracted many Tamil celebrities to tweet in appreciation of her. In the sixth week, she quit the show on medical grounds following a week-long spat with Arav regarding the issue of one-sided romantic feelings.

Oviya kicked-off her acting career by essaying supporting roles in Malayalam films like ‘Kangaroo’, ‘Apoorva’ and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Puthiya Mukham’. Upon completion of her BA Degree in Functional English, she was approached by debutante director Sarkunam who came upon her photos on the internet and finalised her as the female lead in ‘Kalavani’. After facing a few challenges, the romantic-comedy released to a fantastic reception and became the sleeper-hit of the year. Following the success of Kalavani, Oviya signed several small-budget films in Tamil, however, only a few of them could see the light. Despite making claims that Malayalam films were "uninteresting and boring", she starred in two Mallu projects namely ‘Puthumukhangal’ and ‘Manushyamrugam’. Interestingly, Oviya achieved more critical acclaim when she reprised her role in the Kannada remake of Kalavani titled ‘Kirataka’. Since then, she prioritised her commitments in Kollywood and balanced her repertoire by doing both performance-based characters and glamour roles.

Despite busy in Kollywood, Oviya Helen surprised everyone by signing a Bollywood project. She played the heroine in the low-budget Hindi film ‘Yeh Ishq Sarfira’ and sadly, the commercial entertainer sank without a trace at the box-office. In 2018, she made her Tollywood debut by starring opposite Tarun in ‘Idi Naa Love Story’. Though the romantic-drama failed to impress the viewers, Oviya left a lasting impression with her gorgeous looks and arresting screen-presence. Her glamour factor worked well for several films like ‘Yaamirukka Bayamey’ where she literally set the screens on fire.
