Even as

drug scams

continue to create waves across film industries,

actress Madhavi Latha

alleges that the

narcotics bureau

would do well by taking a closer look at Tollywood also.

Times Now claims that

Rhea Chakraborthy

has named Rakul Preet Singh as one of the 25 A-list celebrities who use narcotics to the NCB, apart from Sara Ali Khan. A few days ago, Madhavi asked the bureau via a post on social media to keep an eye on the Telugu Film Industry as well, claiming that no party in Tollywood is complete without usage of narcotics.

Talking to Hyderabad Times, Madhavi alleges, “It is good that the NCB has taken the drug angle to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. It is no secret that drug usage is rampant in

Bollywood

but I doubt this case will ever hold people accountable. Even previously such cases have been brought forth only to fizzle out.” She adds, “NCB officers in Telangana must focus on Tollywood as well. Unlike the last time, they should grill people and bring out the facts. Drug parties are so common here. Even during lockdown, few drug parties were busted in the city. I believe the police must keep an eye out not just on Hyderabadis but on people from the film industry too.”

The actress claims that she has seen first-hand what goes on at the parties thrown by Tollywood celebs. “I have seen how they abuse drugs; I did not open up about this before because I believe there’s a huge mafia behind the drug supply. But what with the NCB looking into Bollywood, I believe now is the right time to speak up,” she says. Madhavi Latha states that celebrities should feel responsible and be held accountable due to the influence they have on society. “Celebrities who take drugs must question themselves about the kind of message they want to give out to their fans,” she says, rounding off.
