Rajinikanth’s much anticipated sequel ‘Jailer 2’ is in the production phase and is set to include cameo appearances by some of the biggest stars in the country. While earlier Shah Rukh Khan was also said to be a part of the film, he has reportedly stepped away. Now, latest reports suggest that his role is set to be replaced by Tollywood Powerstar Pawan Kalyan.
Shah Rukh Khan steps away from ‘Jailer 2’
It was suggested that Shah Rukh Khan was set to play a police officer in a short but strong role. However, he is said to be no longer part of the movie. It is said that he had an interest in the cameo at first. But later, he decided to step away. The reason is said to be his busy schedule as he is focusing on his next film called ‘King’.
Pawan Kalyan in talks for cameo
As per Valai Pechu, Pawan Kalyan is now being talked about for the same role. The makers have reportedly asked him to do a surprise cameo, sharing screen space with Rajinikanth. But there is no official confirmation yet, as everything is still in the talk stage.
Speaking of ‘Jailer 2’ directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Rajinikanth will be reprising his role as Muthuvel Pandian. This time the story is expected to be bigger than before. But it will still keep the fun and action style of the first part. Many actors are also said to be part of the film. Names like Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu are being talked about. Also, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar may return again.
What’s next for Rajinikanth
After Jailer 2, Rajinikanth will work with director Cibi Chakravarthi for the film, which is tentatively called ‘Thalaivar 173’. It is expected to start shooting by April 2026 and is backed by Kamal Haasan’s production banner. Additionally, he will also work on a film marking the on-screen union with Kamal Haasan.
