Pawan Kalyan tells filmmakers to remove Power Star tag from credits

For every release of Pawan Kalyan, fans throng cinema halls with their pockets filled with coins and pieces of paper. As soon as the actor makes his entry, theatres erupt as fans hoot, throw papers and dance around in joy even as the name ‘Power Star Pawan Kalyan’ appears on the big screen. Looks like the matinee idol has decided to bid goodbye to the tag. In fact, in his last few public meetings, the actor has repeatedly told his fans not to address him as ‘Power Star’.

Speaking at a film event last month, Pawan Kalyan said, “Why do you still call me Power Star when I have no such power? Does it make any sense to call me a Power Star? Please stop it.” The actor went on to say that actors should be appreciated for their talent and hard work and not by some tags.

On Sunday, while addressing a public meeting in Vizag, Pawan Kalyan was visibly irked when his fans started chanting ‘Power Star’. “Don’t call me Power Star. How many times should I tell you. Meeru burra penchukondi konchem? (Try to improve your brains?),” he fumed. Apparently, Pawan was never fond of the tag Power Star, and has now decided to do everything he can to shun the moniker. We have reliably learnt that the tag Power Star will no longer be splashed on screen for any of his upcoming films. A source close to Pawan Kalyan tells us, “Pawan Kalyan has clearly instructed producers not to use the tag Power Star for his films. He doesn’t like the tag and he is very adamant about this.

was the last time the tag Power Star was used on screen. His future films will not have it.”

The source adds, “If you notice, even during the teaser of his upcoming film

Bheemla Nayak

, the word Power Star was nowhere to be seen. This has been done as per his wishes, he doesn’t want to be called Power Star any more.”

However, the makers of Bheemla Nayak remain tight-lipped over whether the tag Power Star will be displayed on the screen when the film releases. “Yes, we didn’t use his name for the teaser but it’s too early to tell whether we’ll use the tag when the film releases. As of now, no discussion has happened regarding this,” says director Saagar K Chandra.

Looks like Pawan has decided to dissociate himself with his Power Star tag, it remains to be seen if his fans let go of that moniker.
