An apartment parking tussle between actress Dimple Hayathi and traffic DCP Rahul Hegde, IPS, took an ugly turn, with a criminal case being registered against Dimple and her friend Victor David at Jubilee Hills Police Station under sections 353, 341, 279 IPC on May 17. In the complaint filed by the DCP’s driver, Chetan, it’s alleged that Dimple had intentionally hit the DCP’s official car provided by the government, and CCTV footage of the actress kicking traffic cones placed around DCP’s car in the apartment’s parking lot was submitted to the police as evidence. As a result, the police issued a notice under section 41(A) CR.P.C on May 22. But tweets by the actress about the misuse of power have gone viral since. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, her lawyer Paul Satyanandan, revealed their side of the story and called it a “false and petty case” filed with the intention of harassing the actress.

Misuse of power doesn’t hide mistakes #satyamevajayathe”, the actress tweeted and later shared a note which read, “Whatever is the ongoing issue, I understand the concern of my fans and media. I thank everyone for your cooperation and support. I haven’t given any official statements so far. Hence, I would request you’ll to wait in patience. Until then, the concerned legal team shall revert to the deal soon. – Dimple Hayathi

This case about the parking is totally false. How did the traffic cement blocks, a government property, end up in the parking lot? How did they come inside? Because he (Rahul Hegde) wants to restrict. In any apartment, you cannot block the common area. But he did it purposefully to provocate. So what’s happening here is that we have no say when everyone is doing a favour to him. – Paul Satyanandan, Dimple’s lawyer

We registered a case against Dimple Hayathi and David for damaging government property under sections 353, 341, and 279 IPC. They hit a parked government vehicle with a car and kicked traffic cones in Journalist Colony of Jubilee Hills. We have already notified the accused and filed a charge sheet in the court. – Chandra Sekhar, SI, investigation officer

Staff park my vehicle. When they park it, these people create unnecessary difficulty. When I had to attend an important meeting, they blocked my vehicle and went. Even when I requested them, they did not remove it. Recently, when my driver parked the car. They intentionally hit my car, which sustained damage on the right side. CCTV footage showed them kicking the car. So my driver lodged a complaint. – Rahul Hegde, IPS, DCP Traffic
