Prabhas’ 'The Raja Saab': Thaman reveals why initial songs were scrapped and remade

Prabhas’ much-anticipated horror romantic comedy The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, has been making headlines ever since its announcement. However, reports suggest that several of the actor’s upcoming films, including 'The Raja Saab,' have faced delays. Despite the setbacks, anticipation remains high, especially after a major revelation from the film’s music composer, Thaman, regarding the soundtrack’s transformation.


In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Thaman disclosed that the initial tracks composed for The Raja Saab were completely scrapped and reworked. He explained, “For 'The Raja Saab,' we started composing the songs again. The makers had already completed the entire film, and now Prabhas Garu is returning with commercial songs after a long time.” The composer further elaborated that the movie will feature a mix of tracks, including a melody song, an introduction number, and a special high-energy dance song featuring three actresses. Additionally, a romantic track has been incorporated, with each song planned for release at the right time to maintain freshness.

Thaman also shed light on why the original compositions were discarded. He admitted it was his responsibility to inform the filmmakers that the previous tunes were outdated and wouldn’t appeal to contemporary audiences, even with modifications. He emphasized that as a composer, he must stay updated rather than deceive producers with subpar work. “It’s good to be honest from an investment standpoint as well,” he added, stressing the importance of delivering music that resonates with modern listeners.

Apart from 'The Raja Saab,' Prabhas is actively involved in multiple projects. His period action film 'Fauji,' directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is nearing completion despite minor delays due to his on-set injury. Additionally, he is set to star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s cop drama 'Spirit,' further adding to his impressive lineup of films.
