Prati Roju Pandaage Preview: Will Maruthi's first family drama make the cut?
After the super-hit ‘Mahanubhavudu’ and lukewarm ‘Shailaja Reddy Alludu’, director Maruthi is back with his latest offering ‘Prati Roju Pandaage’, a full-blown family drama, which is a first for him.
Starring Sai Dharam Tej, Raashi Khanna and Satyaraj in lead roles, the film stars a bevy of actors like Rao Ramesh, Hari Teja, Murli Sharma and more. ‘Prati Roju Pandaage’ tells the tale of a grandfather (Satyaraj), who’s in his last stages of life. Diagnosed with a disease, he has limited time to live and his family, that all stays elsewhere, struggle to schedule their life around his impending death. His eldest son (Rao Ramesh) too wonders if he can make it to the death ceremony. His grandson (Sai Dharam Tej) though comes back to India to help his grandfather live his best life and kick things off his bucket-list. Through the process, the duo learn that life is meant to be celebrated.
Maruthi revealed to Hyderabad Times that the film which sees music by Thaman S was conceived based on incidents he read about or saw in real life. “It moved me. I saw many such parents who were heartbroken and lonely, with kids finding it hard to make it even to their death ceremonies. An instance of an old couple that killed themselves because their children weren’t willing to look after them in particular moved me,” says the filmmaker, adding, “But I didn’t want the film to be all morose, so I did my best to keep it entertaining.”
‘Prati Roju Pandaage’ sees editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao with the film running for a span of 2-and-a-half-hours. Bunny Vas is producting the film that will hit screens this Friday. With expectations high on the film, it remains to be seen how it’ll fare.

The movie is a complete family entertainer with an intense message. Just keep aside all the negative reviews and enjoy the movie. Full length comedy and emotional drama. Satyajit sir has lived his role and can't imagine any other person. Rao Ramesh is the centre of attraction with his witty frustrated comedy. Though the climax is not upto mark and could have been even better designedRead allPost comment
