Actress Poorna aka Shamna Kasim wowed the Telugu audience with her stunning appearance in the viral hit "Kurchi Madathapetti" from Mahesh Babu's film "Guntur Kaaram." Just eight months after giving birth to her baby boy last year, she emerged as a true rockstar in the industry. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, she shared her initial doubts about performing the dance number following her post-delivery transformation.

"My initial reaction when Shekar master called with the offer was, 'Master, I look like a buffalo now. Are you sure I should do this?' I was a bit hesitant about accepting because of the weight I gained after my pregnancy. However, the director and the team reassured me that they wanted my graceful expressions more than the dance moves this time. Even the night before my travel, I texted the master to ask if I should go through with it," she revealed.


The actress, who had experienced significant body shaming on social media, mentioned that she was prepared to face some negative comments about the song.

"I had seen comments on my photos saying, 'Is that Purnaa? She looks like a pig.' It’s disheartening to read such things. Women undergo many transformations, and weight gain is just one of them. Those who body shame don’t realize they’re commenting on a mother. I kept all this in mind when I agreed to do the dance and anticipated a lot more negativity. Surprisingly, people praised my performance, and it turned out to be the best act of my career. I’d call it my Hamdan's luck," she said.
