Ram Pothineni, Nivetha Pethuraj and Malvika Sharma's RED gets a U/A certificate

After a long wait, the team of RED has finally announced the release date of the film. Though the film was supposed to release in April 2020, due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown, theatres were shut and the film had to postpone its release. After a lot of speculation, on Sunday, the makers finally announced that the film is going to hit the silver screen on January 14 during the Sankranthi week.It has also received a U/A certificate from the censor board.
An excited Ram Pothineni took to Twitter to announce the release date and wrote, “14th JAN, 2021!!! Chaaaaaallaaa rojulayindi manam kalisi! Eesaari Manta Maamulga Ledhu!”(sic) (We are meeting after a very long time. Let us light up the screens on fire in January).

Earlier many reports suggested that the film would release on an OTT platform but the makers were adamant that they won’t release the film on an OTT platform. In an interview earlier, Ram Pothineni said, “There were few OTT platforms which approached us with a good deal. But we refused to release it on OTT platforms as we intend to give a fine movie watching experience to our audience. RED is a story based on an investigation. It is going to be an edge of the seat thriller with all the mass elements. I feel it is meant for screening on big screen and we will wait until the situation normalises.”
This crime thriller is directed by Kishore Tirumala and will see the Tholi Prema actor in a dual role. It is an official remake of the 2019 Tamil superhit film Thadam. Nivetha Pethuraj. Malvika Sharma and Amritha Aiyer are playing the female leads with Hebbah Patel featured in a special song.
