As anticipated, due to alarming rise of COVID cases across the country and the strict restrictions, big-ticket Telugu films that have already announced their release dates are being postponed. While Nani announced on social media that ‘
Tuck Jagadish
’ will have a new release date owing to the current scenario, the makers of
Rana Daggubati and
Sai Pallavi’s upcoming film ‘
Virata Parvam
’ have officially postponed the release until further announcement. The film was originally scheduled to hit the theaters on April 30.
In a statement released on social media, the producers of Virata Parvam wrote “Due to the second wave of Covid-19 and the alarming rise in cases, #TeamVirataParvam has decided to postpone the movie release from April 30. The new release date will be announced soon. Please mask up and stay safe (sic).”
The second wave of COVID-19 is battering most parts of India at the current moment with over one lakh cases registering each day. The tally of more than 1.38 crore cases is the second-highest globally, behind the United States and ahead of Brazil.
Directed by Venu Udugula of ‘Needi Naadi Oke Katha’ fame, Virata Parvam features an ensemble star cast like
Nivetha Pethuraj,
Priyamani,
Nanditha Das
, Naveen Chandra, Zareena Wahab, Rahul Ramakrishna, Eswari Rao and Sai Chand. The recently released promo indicated the film to be a hard-hitting saga revolving around the Naxalite movement that took place in Telangana in the 1990s.
While ‘Mahanati’ cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez has handled the camera and Suresh Bobbili has composed the music, Hollywood stunt director Stefan Richter has reportedly choreographed the action sequences.
