Rang De: Five reasons to watch the Nithiin and Keerthy Suresh starrer

Nithiin and Keerthy Suresh are all set to entertain the audience with their upcoming film Rang De, which will hit screens on March 26. Directed by Venky Atluri, of Tholi Prema and Mr Majnu fame, the film tells the story of neighbours Anu and Arjun who grow up together but are always at odds with each other. While fans of the actors and Telugu rom-com buffs have enough reasons to watch the film, take a look at our five reasons why:

The lead pair

The last time Nithiin was seen as a college student was in Dil, Sye and Ishq. So to see him as a college student once again will surely be nostalgic for his fans. He even lost weight to pull off the role. Keerthy is a National Award winning actress and she will be seen in a bubbly role that’s right up her alley. The lead pair look stunning together in the teaser and trailer, so fans can’t wait to see them together on-screen.

The direction

Venky Atluri made a remarkable debut in 2018 with Tholi Prema and later went on to direct the 2019 film Mr Majnu. Known for telling intense love stories, the director admittedly hopes to shatter his own mould by telling a saccharine sweet love story, with a dose of comedy and family emotions. What remains to be seen is what TFI directors have often pulled off this formula with ease, if Venky can do the same.

The crew

Devi Sri Prasad’s music always lends credence to any film and this one is expected to be no different. Songs like Naa Kanulu Yedupu and Bus Stande Bus Stande have already been received well, with his BGM expected to be one of the film’s highlights. Legendary DOP PC Sreeram has worked on the film and with a body of work that boasts of films like Sakhi, Kushi and Geethanjali, we’re sure he lends gravitas to this film too.

The story

Nithiin plays Arjun in the film, while Keerthy Suresh plays Anu. They play youngsters who have grown up in neighbouring homes and share a love-hate relationship that stems from jealousy. Arjun is constantly compared to Anu since childhood, so when they’re forced to marry, he’s not happy. The film charts the course of their relationship and how the couple comes to an understanding.

The comedy

Venky Atluri has made a conscious effort to include more comedy in this film when compared to his previous two. And with a cast that boasts of names like Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Suhas and Abhinav Gomatam, expectations are high on the scenes featuring the supporting cast too. But seeing as how this is the first time the director has attempted something like this, it remains to be seen if he has pulled it off.
