Payal Ghosh has reprised the role of Harika in Chandra Sekhar Yeleti’s travel-themed film Prayanam (2009). Prior to the Manchu Manoj starrer, she played the role of a village girl in BBC’s 2008 Telefilm Sharpe’s Peril, a period-drama based on English soldier Richard Sharpe. Post her maiden Telugu film, Payal went on to act in Oosaravelli, Mr Rascal and a host of Kannada and Tamil films. After taking a long break, the Bengali beauty made her grand comeback with her debut Bollywood film Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi (2007). Starring alongside Vir Das, Rishi Kapoor & Paresh Rawal in the rom-com, she played a Gujarati girl in the film.

Upon completion of Class 12, Payal ran away from her hometown and went to Mumbai to pursue her dreams of becoming a film actress. Since her parents disapproved her decision, she gathered all the money she had and went to her sister’s house in Mumbai. At the age of 17, the sexy siren made her celluloid debut by playing the role of a village girl in BBC’s 2008 Telefilm Sharpe’s Peril, a period-drama based on English soldier Richard Sharpe. She also featured in a Canadian film in which she played a school girl in love with her neighbour’s servant.

After convincing her parents, Payal Ghosh joined Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Institute and happened to meet Chandrasekhar Yeleti who was auditioning in Mumbai for the leading lady in Prayanam. After succeeding in the audition, she went to essay the lead role of Harika opposite Manchu Manoj. Though it was her debut film, the cute actress managed to impress both the critics and viewers with her natural performance and ravishing screen-presence.

Right after Prayanam, Payal made her Kannada debut with the 2010 film Varshadhaare. After failing to create an impact, she played a supporting role in the Junior NTR starrer Oosaravelli and turned into a glamourous heroine for Mr Rascal. After a 3-year break, she made her comeback to the silver screen with her debut Tamil film Therodum Veediyile. During this time, she was supposed to make her Bollywood debut opposite Vivek Agnihotri in Freedom.

After opting for a long break, Payal Ghosh made her grand comeback with her debut Bollywood film Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi (2007). Starring alongside Vir Das, Rishi Kapoor & Paresh Rawal in the rom-com, she played a Gujarati girl in the film. Opening up on her accent, she said “Though I am Bengali, I managed in Southern films. And as compared to Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, Gujarati was easy to do; it's quite close to Hindi.”
