Sheena Chohan reacts to her film 'Amar Prem' launching at Cannes! - Exclusive

Actress Sheena Chohan's 'Amar Prem', a love triangle drama, just premiered its trailer at the official India pavilion at Cannes. The movie, which has Sheena playing the lead character, Neha, a light-hearted girl who is dealing with a love tragedy, is being screened at Cannes until May 25. The film's director and producer will attend the official closing ceremony of the world’s most prestigious film festival.


On the work front, Sheena Chohan is currently shooting for her film 'Nomad', a Hollywood film in the US. Speaking to ETimes in an exclusive, the actress from the foreign land said that she is happy and feels on top of the world over her film 'Amar Prem' launching at Cannes. 'The Train' actress said, "I’m feeling on top of the world because I’m already here in America, where my Hollywood film Nomad will come out. when suddenly I got the news that my other film was launched at Cannes! I grew up watching Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wow the crowds at Cannes, and now I have directors congratulating me about my film being there. Honestly, it all comes down to character. This character, Neha, that I’m playing in Amar Prem, wasn’t easy because she’s dealing with a great loss. The love triangle is a new look at this genre, and maybe it got taken at Cannes for that reason. I had to do so much research about people facing this kind of loss—it was tough but well worth it to understand this character. And now all that hard work is paying off at Cannes! I’m so excited!"

The film 'Amar Prem' is directed by Suvendu Raj Ghosh. Talking about what prompted her to take up the role, she adds, "Firstly, it was the director, Suvendu Raj Ghosh; when he narrated the project to me, it filled me with so much joy, because it is doing exactly what cinema should do—it's bringing a message about purpose in life, about the goodness of man, about hope, and about love to people. Everything for me comes down to character. I always immerse myself completely in a character and become a blank page for my director, and on this film, it was a dream as Suvendu Sir knew exactly what he wanted and the character he gave me had so many interesting layers to her. It was beyond a pleasure!"
