Singer Komali on Saranga Dariya controversy: It is unfortunate that rural folk artists are exploited by Tollywood

The controversy surrounded around the chartbuster Saranga Dariya from Love Story seems to be amplifying as singer

alleges that this song was initially collected by her. She also alleged that director Sekhar Kammula and the film unit has cheated her as she was told that the credits will be given.


Komali, who is a folk singer from Warangal told “This folk song from rural Telangana was initially collected by me and I even voiced it in a TV reality show. Initially director Sekhar Kammula promised me that he will make me sing this song in the movie. But due to my unhealthy voice, I asked him for 10 days' time to fix my voice. The director seemed to be in a hurry and he then told me that he will make sure the right credits will be given and he even promised that he will make me sing this song at the audio release event.” The singer also alleges that she stopped hearing from the whole team all of a sudden. “ I have been trying to contact Sekhar Kammula and team from ever since the song is out. I even reached out to writer Suddala Ashoka Teja but none of them are responding to me. It is unfortunate that the rural folk artists are going through such discrimination in

The song Saranga Sariya featured Sai Pallavi and singer Mangli has given her voice to the song. It went viral soon after it released and it already has around 30 crore views on Youtube.
