SS Rajamouli, MM Keeravani spotted Delhi Airport, as they travel to Delhi to receive the National Award for RRR

SS Rajamouli and Oscar award winning MM Keeravani were spotted at Delhi airport. The duo were on their way to receive the honorour National Award for RRR. They will receive the honours from President Droupadi Murmu on October 17, 2023.

SS Rajamouli, along with his son Karthikeya, was spotted at the airport in casual attire. On the other hand, music director MM Keeravani, who was dressed in a white kurta with blue pants and sneakers.

This year is historic for the Telugu film industry as both MM Keeravani and his son Kaala Bhairava received National Awards which is a remarkable achievement.

SS Rajamouli's epic RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, has made a significant impact at the 69th National Film Awards. RRR traveled globally and bagged a lot of awards including the Oscar, this year. It was hailed as one of the year's finest films by the National Board of Review, marking only the second time a non-English film achieved this recognition. It is the third Indian film and the first Telugu film to secure nominations at the Golden Globe Awards. These nominations were in the categories of Best Foreign Language Film and Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu.’

The film made history by winning the award for Best Original Song, with ‘Naatu Naatu’ becoming the first Asian-nominated song to achieve this distinction. ‘Naatu Naatu’ clinched the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards, marking a historic moment as the first Indian song to win an Oscar.

Last but not least, the film RRR received several National Awards, including Best Feature Film for Providing Wholesome Entertainment. It also won awards for Action Choreography, Dance Choreography, Special Effects, Background Score (MM Keeravani), and Best Male Playback Singer for the song ‘Komuram Bheemudo’ by Kaala Bhairava.

Keeravani was also honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, recognising his outstanding contributions to Indian film.


On the professional front, after the global success and Academy Award recognition of RRR, SS Rajamouli is taking on a new project. His next film, reportedly titled SSMB29, will feature Mahesh Babu as the lead.
