According to Pinkvilla reports, the ‘Balagam’ actor was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Warangal when he succumbed to his illness. GV Babu, who dedicated his life to the world of theater and character roles in cinema, was last seen on the big screen in the critically acclaimed Telugu family drama ‘Balagam’.
Venu Yeldandi remembers his legacyFollowing the news of GV Babu’s passing, Balagam director Venu Yeldandi took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share a heartfelt message. Expressing deep sorrow, Yeldandi wrote, “G.V. Babu is no more. He spent his entire life in the theater. In the last days, I was fortunate enough to introduce him through Balagam. May his soul rest in peace.”
Received much praise for ‘Balagam’GV Babu was a beloved figure in the Telugu theater community, known for his deep commitment to the art form. Though his on-screen appearances were selective, his performance in ‘Balagam’ (2023) left a strong impression.
About ‘Balagam’Directed by Venu Yeldandi in his debut, the film revolves around the death of an elderly villager, Komurayya, whose passing sparks emotional upheaval within his family. GV Babu’s role added depth and authenticity to the film, which was praised for its portrayal of family dynamics and rural life. ETimes review for the film read, “While the story is the film’s stronghold, its creative and technical team needs a special mention. Right from the aerial shot that leads the viewer into a tile-roofed home introducing the old man, the movie has several simple yet effective cinematic frames. Intertwining and weaving verse and music into the story to establish the rural artistic and cultural practices is genius.”
