Telugu rights of Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ acquired by C Kalyan

After the back-to-back debacles of ‘Kabali’ and ‘Kaala’ especially in the Telugu circuit, Rajinikanth stamped his authority on the box-office with the phenomenal success of his latest extravaganza ‘2.O’. The 68-year-old superstar is set to rock the celluloid once again this Pongal with his forthcoming release ‘Petta’ directed by the talented Karthik Subbaraj. The first look posters, songs and the latest teaser have received fabulous response from Thalaivar fans.
According to the latest update, veteran producer C Kalyan has acquired the Telugu theatrical rights of ‘Petta’ for an undisclosed sum and is planning to release the film on a large scale. However, with stiff competition from big-ticket films like ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’, ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ and Venkatesh’s ‘F2’, it remains to see whether C Kalyan will stay with the original release date of the Tamil version or postpone it.
Starring an ensemble star-cast with the likes of Simran, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bobby Simha, ‘Petta’ is scheduled to hit the screens on 11 January next year. All songs composed by Anirudh Ravichander have already become chart-busters.
