‘The Raja Saab’ release: Prabhas starrer clears censorship with U/A 16+ rating; scenes ALTERED ahead of January 9 release
On the first big releases since the 2026 New Year, Prabhas starrer ‘The Raja Saab’ directed by Maruthi is set to release on Friday. Ahead of its release on the big screens, it has completed its censorship formalities and recent reports suggest that some sequences from the film were altered to receive the U/A 16+ certificate.
‘The Raja Saab’ will have a runtime of 189 minutes that is set to be around 3 hours and 9 minutes.
The makers recently shared the third episode of “The legacy of The Raja Saab” where the makers talk about the film. In the 1-minute 21-second video, director Maruthi is seen speaking about Prabhas’ character. He said, “Telugu audience has seen the entertaining version of Prabhas. But Pan India has never. After coming out of the theatre, you will remember Prabhas from this film for many years. The get-up and everything, it is a great episode and has never been seen on Indian screen.”
The movie will be released on January 9, 2026. It will face a clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s last cinema outing film, ‘Jana Nayagan’.
Scenes modified for U/A rating
As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the scene, which included blood being cleaned from the floow was modified by the CBFC and was made monochromatic to reduce the impact. The beheading scene was also cut to four seconds. These edits helped the film secure the U/A 16+ rating. With these changes, the film is now cleared for theatrical release across India.
