'They Call Him OG' pre-release event: Pawan Kalyan wields sword at event; narrowly misses bodyguard
Actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan, who also serves as the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, made a dramatic entry at the pre-release event of his upcoming pan-India film, 'They Call Him OG'. The Power Star stunned fans by wielding a katana on stage, which nearly missed his own bodyguard. The moment, captured on video, has since gone viral across social media.
The makers of the upcoming film organized a pre-release of the film at the LB Stadium. Pawan Kalyan, complementing his character from the film, Ojas Gambheera, was seen wearing a black outfit. Interestingly, he also had a sword from the film with him. Pawan Kalyan made a grand entry as he walked up to the stage, but what caught everyone off guard was a split-second scare when the weapon swung dangerously close to his bodyguard.
Pawan Kalyan addressed the massive crowd. He candidly admitted that the event made him forget his political responsibilities for a while. "Have you ever wondered or seen a Deputy CM walk around with a sword? Since it’s a movie, I can walk," he said.
The event got caught up in heavy rain in the city, and despite it, fans in crowds showed up to see a glimpse of their star and also got to watch bits and pieces of the trailer after it got disrupted due to rain. However, fans expected the trailer to be released soon, but it is yet to make its way to the online space.
During the event, Pawan Kalyan gave a speech praising his team members. He applauded director Sujeeth's idea as he inspired him to appear at the event in character. He said, "I almost forgot I was the Deputy Chief Minister today because Sujeeth made me feel like Ojas Gambheera."
The film features Bollywood's Emraan Hashmi making his Tollywood debut and playing the main antagonist. It also stars Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Subhalekha Sudhakar and Sudev Nair in key roles.
It is slated to release on September 25.
