‘Thrilled to see the audience give a thumbs up to Wild Dog’

The makers of Nagarjuna-starrer

Wild Dog

are a delighted lot after the film released to a positive response on Friday. Debutant director Ahishor

Solomon

says he’s overwhelmed with the audience’s response to his investigative thriller.

“We were always confident but there were apprehensions since it’s a new-age commercial film that’s devoid of the trappings of a staple masala potboiler. The film has no songs interrupting the flow and gets right into the thick of things from the get-go. The way the audience has received the film has vindicated our belief. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since the film released,” says Solomon.

Produced by Niranjan Reddy and Anvesh Reddy under Matinee Entertainment, Wild Dog is running in theatres. The film, based on true events, shows the aftermath of several bombings in the country and how a team led by NIA agent Vijay Varma manage to nab the terrorist behind it. “People have particularly enjoyed

Nagarjuna

’s intro scene and the action sequence at

Kala Ghoda

in Mumbai that takes place before the interval. The feedback I received from the audience is that the film has kept them at the edge of their seats, especially in the second half, and that it invoked a patriotic feeling in them,” says Niranjan Reddy.

Agreeing, co-producer NM Pasha adds, “The audience is raving about the film’s climax which involves a covert operation in Nepal. The fact that the film is thorough with its facts and it’s gripping at the same time — that’s what made it click.”
