Keerthy Suresh, recently tied the knot with her long-term boyfriend, Antony, in a traditional Tamil wedding. The actress who rose to fame with her remarkable performance in the 2018 film 'Mahanati'. But did you know that she initially turned down the role?

In an earlier interview, Keerthy Suresh revealed that she initially turned down the role of legendary actress Savitri in 'Mahanati' after a lengthy four-hour narration by director Nag Ashwin. She said, "When Nagi offered me the narration, I refused to do the project. The producers were excited that I would come on board. But, I was scared and hence refused to do the film. Swapna and Priyanka were shocked and were like, ‘What is this girl? She turned down an offer to do a Savitri amma’s biopic?!’ But I turned it down only because I was scared."

Despite the producers' excitement about her involvement, Keerthy felt overwhelmed and scared at the prospect of portraying such an iconic figure. She worried about not doing justice to Savitri's legacy and feared that audiences might criticize her performance.

She further added, "Some random girl coming from somewhere and suddenly doing a biopic on a legend… What if they say I ruined it? I couldn’t think of anything else positive. I was extremely scared."

However, it was Nag Ashwin's unwavering confidence in her abilities that ultimately persuaded her to accept the role. She acknowledged that his belief in her was greater than her own self-doubt, which encouraged her to take on the challenging project.
The film went on to become a massive success, earning critical acclaim and several awards, including a National Film Award for Best Actress for Keerthy.

The 'Dasara' actress recently made her Bollywood debut alongside Varun Dhawan in the action thriller 'Baby John', directed by Atlee.

She currently has two confirmed upcoming projects named 'Revolver Rita' and 'Kannivedi'.
