Telugu actress Krithi Shetty entered the industry through the highly successful romantic drama 'Uppena' in 2021. In the film, she portrayed the character Sangeetha, also known as Bebamma. The movie starred Vaisshnav Tej as the male lead and the acclaimed Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film received immense appreciation from both audiences and critics, winning the 69th National Film Award for Best Telugu Film.

Krithi Shetty candidly discussed her debut Telugu film's victory at the National Awards. Grateful for the blessings and insights gained during her journey in the industry, she extended congratulations to her 'Uppena' team members for the significant triumph.


The film marked the directorial debut of the talented filmmaker Buchi Babu Sana and is set in the year 2002. It centers around the unique romantic tale of Aasirvadham, also known as Aasi, a young Dalit Christian man who falls for Sangeetha, affectionately called Bebamma, the daughter of a powerful Zamindar named Raayanam. In the movie, Vaisshnav Tej portrayed the character of Aasi, while Krithi Shetty played the role of Bebamma. Vijay Sethupathi took on the character of Raayanam.

Krithi expressed her thankfulness for the highs, lows, lessons, setbacks, love, and even the challenges that have collectively shaped her into the person she is today. The musical composition and original score for the movie were created by Devi Sri Prasad. The 69th National Award for the Best Telugu Film marks 'Uppena' as a precious gem for the Telugu movie industry.
