Vijay Deverakonda dismisses comparisons between 'Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi' and 'Liger'; says he doesn't believe in remakes

As the release of 'Liger' is around the corner, lead actor Vijay Deverakonda is leaving no stone unturned to promote the film, even if it is at the stake of sleepless nights and no rest at all. But some people argue that there are comparisons between Ravi Tej-led 'Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi' and Vijay Deverakonda-starrer 'Liger', both were directed by Puri Jagannadh.

After the film's trailer was unveiled, fans pointed out similarities between Liger's plot and Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’s subject, which chronicles the story of a passionate kickboxer, whose life revolves around his mother and his girlfriend. Both the films feature story about a kickboxer participating in the kick-boxing championship.

When asked about the plot similarities, Vijay Deverakonda told reporters, ''We are doing a form of mixed martial arts called MMA Fighting, which is quite different from kickboxing. I have watched 'Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi' many times. Yes, there is mother-son sentiment but the film is a lot more than that. Other than that, there are no similarities between the two films. I won’t to do remakes. You will understand by watching the movie in theatres.''


Vijay Deverakonda in 'Liger' will present a new brand of hero and heroism. The film has been bankrolled under the Puri Connects’ banner in association with Dharma Productions. 'Liger' also stars Ananya Panday, which marks her Tollywood debut. The film has been directed by Puri Jagannadh. It releases on August 25, 2022.
