‘Vikram’, ‘Bharateeyudu’, ‘Bhamane Satyabhamane’; 5 dubbed hits of Kamal Haasan in Tollywood
‘Vikram: Hitlist’ has turned out to be one of the big hits in Kamal Haasan’s career. Right from the beginning, he has been dubbing or directly acting in Telugu films. Over the years several Tamil dubbed movies have been superhits in Tollywood. Below is the list of such dubbed blockbuster hits of Kamal Haasan aka ‘Ulaganayagana’ or ‘Universal Hero’.

‘Vikram: Hitlist’
‘Vikram’ is a 2022 Tamil language action thriller film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj The film was produced by Kamal Haasan himself under his home banner. The film also starred other big Tamil stars such as Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil. The film has been released as a Pan-India film all over the country in all major languages under the same title. The film reportedly minted over Rs 25 crores in Tollywood and over Rs 335 crores all across the world.

‘Bharateeyudu’/’Indian’
The above film is written by Sujatha and Shankar and directed by Shankar Shanmugam for AM Ratnam. The film was a Vigilante action thriller film that starred Manisha Koirala, and Urmila Matondkar as the lady leads while Sukanya starred as Kamal’s daughter. The film had its music composed by AR Rahman and it was dubbed in Telugu as ‘Bharateeyudu’. A sequel of the above film is in making now by the same director.

‘Bhamane SatyaBhamane’/’Avai Shanmugi’
The above is a 1996 Tamil comedy film made based on the 1993 English film Mrs Doubtfire and a few other films. The film in Tamil was written by Crazy Mohan along with KS. Ravi Kumar later directed the film and dubbed it in Telugu as ‘Bhamane SatyaBhamane’. The film is known for its slapstick comedy produced by the director himself. The film was one of the biggest dubbed hits of Kamal in Telugu.

Pushpaka Vimanam (1987)
‘Pushpa Vimanam’ is a 1987 Tamil black comedy film written and directed by Telugu maker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao originally in Kannada along with Shringar Nagaraj. Since the film was silent, very few changes were made to other language versions. The film is considered classic even today and is often seen on Telugu movie channels. The film was one of the major hits of Kamal in Telugu.

‘Dasavathaaram’(2008)
This is a science fiction Tamil film written by Kamal Haasan and directed by K.S.Ravikumar in the year 2008. The film was dubbed and released like every Tamil film in Telugu under the same title. The film had Kamal Haasan performing 10 different roles that were produced by V. Ravichandran and its background score is given by Telugu musician Devi Sri Prasad.
Other films that made a decent business in Telugu states are 'Viswaroopam, ‘Virumaandi’, ‘Panchatanthiram’, ‘Hey Ram’, ‘Abhay’, ‘And 'Nayagan’ to mention a few.
